Virtue RF combines two proven technologies: microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy. During treatment, an array of ultra-fine, gold-plated microneedles penetrate the skin to a precisely controlled depth, delivering RF energy directly into the dermis. This dual mechanism creates micro-injuries that trigger the skin's natural healing response while the RF energy generates controlled thermal zones that stimulate collagen and elastin remodelling. Unlike ablative laser treatments, Virtue RF works beneath the skin surface, leaving the outer epidermis largely intact. Consultation: Your Consultant Dermatologist will assess your skin, discuss concerns and goals, and recommend a treatment protocol (typically 3 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart).
Treatment (45–60 minutes): After cleansing and applying topical numbing cream (30 minutes), the Virtue RF handpiece is applied across the treatment area. The microneedle depth and RF energy are customised for each zone of the face. Most patients describe the sensation as a warm, prickling feeling.
Virtue RF has an excellent safety profile. Common temporary effects include redness (similar to mild sunburn) lasting 24–48 hours, mild swelling, and slight skin sensitivity. There is no significant peeling or crusting. Rare side effects include temporary hyperpigmentation, bruising, or prolonged redness — these risks are minimised by proper patient selection and expert technique.
Most patients experience 24–48 hours of redness. Makeup can typically be applied after 24 hours. Initial skin glow is visible within a week.
