Chemical Peel & Mesotherapy in London

Chemical peel and mesotherapy is a two-step skin treatment: a clinician-selected medical-grade peel first resurfaces the outer layer of skin, then facial mesotherapy delivers a clinician-selected blend of vitamins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid into the upper dermis through tiny micro-injections. Together they aim to improve texture, hydration, glow and evenness of tone. It is performed by our clinicians at 10 Harley Street, Marylebone, London W1G 9PF.

The treatment

Resurface first, then replenish

A chemical peel removes dull, uneven surface cells so the skin looks smoother and brighter. Facial mesotherapy then places a clinician-selected blend of vitamins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid into the upper dermis with very fine needles, where it can support hydration and a healthier-looking glow. Combining both in one appointment treats the surface and the layer beneath it in a single visit.

Every plan starts with a consultation in London. Your clinician assesses your skin type, concerns and medical history, chooses the peel strength and the mesotherapy blend, and explains realistic results and downtime before anything is booked. Results vary between people, and a course of three sessions usually gives a more noticeable change than a single treatment.

What does mesotherapy do to the face?

Facial mesotherapy delivers a blend of vitamins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid directly into the upper dermis, where it can improve hydration, radiance and the overall quality of the skin. The treatment uses many tiny, shallow micro-injections, or needling-assisted delivery, across the face, so the active ingredients sit where the skin needs them rather than on the surface, where much of a topical serum never penetrates.

Mesotherapy for the face is best suited to mild to moderate concerns: dullness, dehydration, early fine lines and a tired or uneven complexion. The British College of Aesthetic Medicine describes it as most effective in the early stages of skin ageing. Mesotherapy does not lift sagging skin, add volume or replace treatments such as dermal fillers. Most people notice skin that looks fresher and more hydrated within one to two weeks, with the clearest change typically seen after a course of three sessions.

Why combine a chemical peel with mesotherapy?

A chemical peel and mesotherapy work on two different layers of skin, so combining them treats texture and hydration in a single appointment. The peel is applied first: a clinician-selected medical-grade peel loosens and lifts dull surface cells, which can help to refine texture, soften the look of pores and brighten uneven tone.

Mesotherapy follows once the peel has been neutralised or removed. The vitamin, antioxidant and hyaluronic acid blend is placed into the upper dermis, supporting the hydration that a freshly resurfaced skin needs. Because both steps happen in the same visit, you have one period of recovery rather than two. The peel strength is chosen conservatively when it is combined with mesotherapy, and it is adjusted for your skin type, particularly for darker skin tones, where stronger peels carry a higher risk of pigmentation changes. A course of three sessions, two to four weeks apart, is typical.

Mesotherapy vs microneedling: what is the difference?

Mesotherapy and microneedling both use fine needles, but mesotherapy is designed to deliver active ingredients into the skin, while microneedling is designed to create controlled micro-injuries that prompt the skin to repair itself. Mesotherapy places measured amounts of a vitamin, antioxidant and hyaluronic acid blend into the upper dermis, so its main aim is hydration, glow and skin quality.

Microneedling, including radiofrequency microneedling such as Virtue RF, works deeper and is generally chosen for acne scarring, enlarged pores and firmer texture. It usually has more redness and a longer recovery. Mesotherapy is typically gentler, with small bumps and redness settling within 24 to 48 hours. The two are not mutually exclusive: many treatment plans use mesotherapy for hydration and radiance and microneedling for structural concerns, spaced appropriately. Your clinician will recommend the option that suits your skin, goals and available downtime at consultation.

Can mesotherapy help with pigmentation?

Mesotherapy can help pigmentation look more even when it is combined with a chemical peel, but it is not a stand-alone pigmentation treatment. In this treatment, the peel does most of the work on uneven tone by lifting pigmented surface cells, while the mesotherapy blend of vitamins and antioxidants supports brighter, better-hydrated skin as it renews.

This combination tends to suit mild sun spots, post-acne marks and a generally dull or blotchy complexion. Deeper or hormonal pigmentation, such as melasma, is more complex. Melasma can be managed and improved, but it is not cured and can return with sun exposure or hormonal change. For stubborn pigmentation, your clinician may recommend a dedicated depigmentation treatment such as the Cosmelan Peel instead. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50 is essential throughout any course of treatment for pigmentation, because unprotected sun exposure can quickly undo the improvement and can darken existing marks.

How long does mesotherapy last?

Results from facial mesotherapy typically last around three to six months after a completed course, and maintenance sessions are used to keep the effect going. Save Face, the UK register of accredited practitioners, gives a typical range of three to five months for facial skin rejuvenation. How long your results last depends on your age, skin condition, sun exposure, lifestyle and home skincare.

A standard plan is three combined peel and mesotherapy sessions, two to four weeks apart, followed by a single maintenance session every three to four months if you wish. Published evidence for long-term structural change from mesotherapy is limited, so we describe the benefits honestly: improved hydration, radiance and skin quality that are maintained with occasional top-up sessions, rather than a permanent change.

All medical procedures carry some degree of risk. At Harley Street Aesthetics, our Consultant-led approach minimises complications. We believe in full transparency so you can make an informed decision.

Redness and small bumps

Common

Small raised bumps at the injection points and general redness are expected and usually settle within 24 to 48 hours.

Pinpoint bruising

Common

Small bruises can appear at injection sites and typically fade within a few days to a week.

Tightness, stinging and flaking

Common

The peel can cause stinging during application, then tightness and light flaking for several days as the skin renews.

Changes in pigmentation

Uncommon

Temporary darkening or lightening of the skin can occur, particularly in darker skin types or after sun exposure. Peel strength is chosen to reduce this risk.

Breakouts or cold sore flare

Uncommon

Some people develop small spots or a cold sore reactivation after treatment. Tell us if you are prone to cold sores.

Infection, allergic reaction or scarring

Rare

Infection, an allergic reaction to an ingredient, persistent lumps or scarring are rare. Treatment is carried out with sterile technique and a full medical history.

Recovery Timeline

Recovery varies between individuals. Below is a general guide — your consultant will provide personalised aftercare instructions during your appointment.

Chemical Peel + Mesotherapy FAQs

What does mesotherapy do to the face?

Mesotherapy delivers a blend of vitamins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid into the upper dermis through tiny micro-injections, which can improve hydration, radiance and overall skin quality. It suits dullness, dehydration and early fine lines. It does not lift sagging skin or add volume. Combined with a chemical peel, it also helps texture and tone look smoother and more even.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a treatment in which many very fine, shallow injections deliver active ingredients directly into the skin. For the face, we use a clinician-selected blend of vitamins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. At Harley Street Aesthetics in London, it is paired with a medical-grade chemical peel in the same appointment to treat both the surface of the skin and the layer beneath it.

How much does mesotherapy cost in the UK?

Facial mesotherapy in the UK typically costs between £150 and £400 per session, depending on the clinic and the blend used. At Harley Street Aesthetics in London, a chemical peel with mesotherapy costs £299 per session, including both treatments. A course of three sessions costs £799 in total, saving £98 compared with booking three single sessions.

How long does mesotherapy last?

Mesotherapy results typically last around three to six months after a completed course of three sessions. Maintenance treatments every three to four months can help keep skin looking hydrated and bright. How long results last depends on your age, skin condition, sun exposure and skincare routine, so your clinician will suggest a maintenance plan that suits you.

Is microneedling or mesotherapy better?

Neither is better overall: mesotherapy is better for hydration and glow, while microneedling is better for acne scarring, enlarged pores and firmness. Mesotherapy delivers a nourishing blend into the skin with little downtime, whereas microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries to trigger repair and usually needs a few days to recover. Your clinician will recommend the right option at consultation.

What are the disadvantages of mesotherapy?

The main disadvantages of mesotherapy are temporary redness, small bumps and possible bruising, the need for a course of sessions, and results that gradually fade over time. Scientific evidence for long-term structural change is limited, so benefits are best described as improved hydration and skin quality. Rare risks include infection and allergic reaction, which is why a medical consultation comes first.

Does mesotherapy hurt?

Mesotherapy usually feels like a series of quick, sharp scratches, and most people find it very tolerable. A numbing cream is applied before treatment to reduce discomfort, and some ingredients may sting briefly. The chemical peel beforehand typically causes a warm, tingling or stinging sensation for a few minutes while it is on the skin.

How many mesotherapy sessions will I need?

Most people need three chemical peel and mesotherapy sessions, spaced two to four weeks apart, for the most noticeable result. Some improvement in hydration and glow is often visible after the first session. After the course, a single maintenance session every three to four months is optional. The course of three costs £799 in total.

Can mesotherapy help with pigmentation?

Mesotherapy can help uneven tone look brighter when combined with a chemical peel, but it is not a stand-alone pigmentation treatment. The peel lifts pigmented surface cells while the vitamin and antioxidant blend supports healthier-looking skin. Melasma can be managed but not cured, and it may return. Daily SPF 50 is essential to protect any improvement.

What should I avoid after mesotherapy?

After mesotherapy, avoid make-up for at least 12 hours, and avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas, sunbeds and direct sun for 48 hours. Do not pick flaking skin from the peel. Pause retinol and exfoliating acids until your clinician advises, and apply broad-spectrum SPF 50 every day throughout your course.
